The Whitsunday region is a vibrant, growing and diverse region in northern Queensland. It boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in the world with the beauty of the Whitsunday Islands, and the Great Barrier Reef. The region stretches from Sarina in the south, to Bowen in the North, and has 13 churches spread through its geographical area. The larger community of Mackay has mining and agriculture as its major industries with a growing tourism market. The region has enjoyed a season of above average growth for over a decade, and continues to be a major exporter and wealth creator for Queensland and Australia through coal and sugar in particular. The churches in the region continue to grow and have a rising expectation of greater things to come.
